VSS Monitoring V 8.8 S.C-J-AF V2 - 10/100/1000 8x8 Distributed Filter Tap
The 8x8 Distributed Filter Tap allows tapping, filtering and aggregation of Ethernet networks using multiple monitor ports for security and performance.
Fiber/copper/SFP units (V 8.8S.C-J-AF V2, V 8.8L.C-J-AF V2 and V 8.8Z.C-J-AF V2) provide eight 1000 Mbps fiber optic ports for network traffic input and pass-through; four 1000 Mbps SFP ports provide monitor output; an additional four 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ-45 input/output ports can be configured as either network input ports or as monitor output ports. The fiber optic ports can be ordered as either 1000Base-SX, 1000Base-LX or 1000Base-ZX.
Network ports can be configured (copper/SFP units) or ordered (fiber/copper/SFP units) as either inline taps or as direct span inputs. Inline tap port pairs perform a transparent pass-through of data from one port of the pair to the other, while at the same time filtering, copying and aggregating received data to the monitor outputs. Span ports act as simple inputs, with filtering, copying and aggregation to the monitor outputs. The four RJ-45 input/output ports can be configured as either inline taps, span inputs, or as monitor outputs. Thus the unit can be configured with either 8 inputs (8 span inputs or 4 tap pairs) and 8 outputs, 9 inputs and 7 outputs, 10 inputs (10 span inputs or 5 tap pairs) and 6 outputs, 11 inputs and 5 outputs, or 12 inputs (12 span inputs or 6 tap pairs) and 4 outputs. Monitor ports are individually controlled, allowing the user to forward traffic from any network port or group of network ports to any monitor port. Furthermore extensive packet filtering options allow for traffic classification and selection for monitor output; network port input can be directed to any of the monitor outputs based upon filtering results.
This device enables local management via a serial console and remote management via telnet, HTTP, and SNMP. A filter option enables screening of the monitoring traffic to ensure zero packet loss during aggregation as well as increased input capacity. Filtering also allows traffic to be distinguished according to source and destination MAC/IP address as well as by specific protocols, such as HTTP, VoIP, etc. SNMP traps enable user notification of port status, user login, and management configuration changes.
Dual redundant power supplies allow seamless transitions between power systems and maximize uptime. All VSS managed devices support field firmware updates for additional features and performance enhancements.
