VSS Monitoring V 2.8 L.X-N-AF - 10G 2x8 Distributed Filter Tap

The V 2.8 10 Gigabit Distributed Filter Tap allows Tapping, Aggregation, and Filtering of two Inline networks or four SPAN 10 Gigabit networks using its ports for security and performance. Eight LC connectors provide network input. Each of its eight XFP 10 Gigabit ports is available for output of aggregated or non-aggregated traffic allowing security; network monitoring; or forensics tools unfettered access to high-speed links. All ports are configurable as SPAN inputs or monitor outputs. XFP ports on inline builds are also I/O configurable.

VSS Monitoring was at the forefront of aggregation and selective aggregation technology to help end-users get the most from their network monitoring tools. Filtering provides a new level of sophistication to an already intelligent networking device. Through a graphical user interface or command line interface, users may configure any of the thousands of permutations of filters possible on the VSS Distributed Filter Taps, enabling their monitoring tools to scale to new levels like never before. Monitoring tools no longer need to process packets that are not of interest. This allows the tools to perform only their intended purpose and eliminate the overhead of unwanted packets.

The need for this has become apparent with the number of tools built upon commercial, off-the-shelf platforms whereby the monitoring tool vendor has utilized a standard chassis and has no hardware acceleration. Filtering can also be incredibly useful as a way to reduce traffic for upstream aggregation, thereby allowing users to "stack" distributed taps for port density.
