Net Optics 10/100 Slim Taps with Zero DelayTM are super-compact to save rack space, enabling installation of up to six Taps in a one-rack-unit panel. The design of the 10/100BaseT Slim Tap is also optimized and tested for high-performance on  mission-critical networks and includes superior network visibility and security access. In addition, the breakthrough design of the Net Optics 10/100BaseT Slim Tap ensures Zero Delay on network traffic while maintaining uninterrupted access for monitoring and security devices.

Zero DelayTM - A Net Optics Breakthrough

If power is lost to other 10/100 Taps, the connected devices can introduce packet delay when they detect power loss and try to re-establish their link. This can result in further packet delay and even packet loss as potential security issues. To eliminate this packet delay, we have developed Zero Delay for our Taps. This technology eliminates packet delay and ensures that any loss of power to the Tap is transparent to the network and does not affect the flow of traffic.

Access Information with a Command Line Interface

The CLI of the 10/100 Slim Tap allows you to set parameters, view status information, and monitor statistical data. You can set the alarm thresholds to trigger the alarm LED on the front of the unit and clear the traffic data counters. Connect a cable from your computer to the RS232 port on the back of the unit to use the command line interface.

Security and Visibility

Because the 10/100 Slim Tap has no IP address, the Tap is invisible to the network. Monitoring devices attached to the Tap are therefore isolated from the network and less vulnerable to attacks. Even though monitoring devices have reduced exposure on the network, the monitoring device itself can see all full-duplex traffic as if it was in-line, including Layer 1 and Layer 2 errors.

Simply Plug It In

Full-duplex monitoring is a snap with the Net Optics 10/100 Slim Taps. All network and monitoring cables necessary for plug-and-play deployment are included in the box.

Reliability

Net Optics 10/100 Slim Taps have redundant power connections for extra uptime protection. If the primary power source fails, the Tap automatically switches to the second power source. The two power LEDs on the front of the unit indicate the current power source. If all power is lost and reapplied, there is still zero delay to network traffic.
